WEBB STRENGTHENS WIRELESS DATA ANTENNA OFFERING
Jasco company, Webb Industries, leading supplier of telecommunication hardware and accessories has concluded a deal with European Antennas for the distribution rights of its products in South Africa. According to Webb’s Paul Richards this will significantly bolster the company’s offering in the wireless data product arena.
“The wireless data market is mushrooming and we wanted to ensure that we have a ready supply of high quality, cost-effective antennas over and above our existing sources. European Antennas is one of the best worldwide and we’re delighted to have come to this agreement with them,” says Richards.
The range includes 2.4GHz, 3.5GHz and 5.8Ghz omni, directional and sectoral antennas, which can be used over several applications including FHSS, DSSS, OFDM and COFDM. Also available are dual band 2.4 and 5.8 GHz antennas that allow for a simple upgrade path between protocols.
Richards says that in general the additional flexibility that Webb will now have as a result of the European Antennas arrangement will enable them to provide for almost every requirement for the wireless data sector.
"One of the areas we will be concentrating on is external antennas for rural WiFi networks where we have the technology for point-to-point or point-to multi-point application. Also, in the urban areas we’re excited about our bridging flat-panel high gain antennas, which are significantly more efficient and less obtrusive on outside buildings than the typical gridpack or dish antenna,” he says.
Mobile applications are also one of Webb’s strong points where small and unobtrusive antennas on vehicles enable mobility of data in security sensitive, hazardous and harsh environments. Webb Industries has earned a reputation for its innovative approach to antenna design and the wireless data antennas are no exception.
“European Antennas can develop specific designs for different applications including hospitals, schools, warehouses, shopping centres, office blocks and exhibition centres where our dual-slant 45 degree directional and omni-directional antennas facilitate the necessary diversity required for these applications. Also, a big advantage here is that multiple antennas can be designed in a single housing where required,” says Richards.
Founded in 1991, European Antennas Ltd is part of the Chelton Group of companies and specialises in the design and development of, inter alia, cost-effective and technically focused solutions with high gain collinear omni directional antennas, typically in the 200MHz up to 40GHz range.
Webb Industries has become one of the leading innovators in ancillary products for telecommunications infrastructure. The company continues to evolve in conjunction with the rapidly changing telecommunications sector and, apart from its antennas, offers a comprehensive range of coaxial cables and connectors, duplexers and filters, earthing, lightning protection, as well as the supply and installation of masts and towers.
