Description
Webb’s new ATA150 Animal Tracker is an ideal tracking antenna for locating animals in the bushveld. Operating at 148 MHz to 152 MHz, it functions as a receiving antenna to track transmitters attached to animals across various terrains.
These livestock tracking devices comes in compact, portable bags for easy assembly anywhere. Each one includes a boom, a handle, 4 whips, and a 2-meter RG-58 cable with BNC connectors. Assembly involves attaching the whips to the boom, connecting the cable, and affixing the handle.
To use this animal tracker technology, connect the RG-58 cable to a network analyser or similar device.
The boom of these animal monitoring devices indicates the optimal antenna orientation for maximum signal gain. Rotate the antenna 360 degrees to locate the strongest signal, then turn it 90 degrees left or right to find the null point, where the signal is weakest.
This point helps accurately determine the transmitter’s location.
After locating the animal, the animal tracker system can be disassembled and stored in its bag, with all parts being replaceable as needed.
